Our Story

Almost 30 years ago, we partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to create our best-in-class PECOS technology – a unique cloud-based data-driven eProcurement solution. Since then, we have taken a series of determined steps to grow our offering and we are continuously innovating to meet our clients’ challenges and to make sure we are always one step ahead.

ELCOM TIMELINE

1992

Elcom established as a pioneer in electronic catalogue technology and starts developing PECOS to prove the concept of electronic commerce in its own IT reseller business.

1998

Commercial release of worlds’ first cloud-based Purchase to Pay solution (PECOS) to enable organisations to fully automate the buying process and management of supplier relationships.

2000

Completes transformation from IT reseller to B2B procurement software provider.

2002

Scottish Government selects Elcom to deliver PECOS Purchase to Pay for world’s first national eProcurement Program.

2006

New, equity investment, facilitated via Smith & Williamson Investment Management of $7M.

2010

Achieves 50,000 buyer and supplier connections and processes over 2 million purchase orders which are annually worth more than £5 billion.

2013

Winner of best OEM Implementation of Actuate Data Analytics & Insights, Big Data Category processing over 1 terabyte of data.

2014

Launch of Elcom eInvoicing solution and achieved Peppol Access Point certification for full Accounts Payable automation.

2015

Exceeds £10 billion per annum in spend throughput and over a 100,000 buyer and supplier connections.

2017

Launch of eFunding: A sophisticated financing solution that advances funding at PO stage.

2018

Elcom acquires Assistive Partner Limited, to add Stock, Logistics, Scan4Safety and Supply Chain modules to existing spend management solutions.

2019

Elcom acquires ADB (UK) Limited to add Sourcing, Contract and Catalogue capability to existing spend management solutions.

2019

New office established in Glasgow with support from Scottish Enterprise to scale up R&D capacity and deliver new digital services.

2020

Elcom unifies its branding and go to market position, to deliver continued growth.
